The other day, Instantly Relevant - Strategic Growth Marketing Systems asked me if I had any tips on balancing life as a new mom. I'm no gatekeeper - here they are:
Tip #1: I’ve learned that you have to 𝐩𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭. If you are not well, you cannot take care of your family and you cannot perform at your best, professionally. This may mean taking that sick day when you’d normally force yourself to push through it.
Tip #2: The second most important tip is setting boundaries for yourself and communicating them to your team. These could include certain hours of the evening when you are not reachable, because they are dedicated family hours. Or it might include certain days that you designate as no meeting days. Set boundaries that work best for you in order to give yourself the time and space you need for both your work and your family.
Tip #3: My last tip is to come to terms with the fact that everything is subject to change. Things may not always go exactly according to plan or according to schedule. Sh*t happens, babies get sick, daycares close, and being flexible is part of being a great parent and a great team member.
I'd love other people to chime in with their tips so we can grow a long list for working parents!

Yearly reminder: Pregnancy is not a joke.
Pregnancy pranks are not funny and not original, but most importantly, they can be hurtful and insensitive to those of us who are part of the infertility and pregnancy loss community.
We spend too much time thinking about people who might be pregnant, and not enough time caring for those of us who so badly want to be pregnant.
Check in on your employees, coworkers, and friends today who are navigating their pregnancy journeys and may have been impacted by the fools who don’t understand the effects of their humorless pranks.
