Last week it was announced that Illumina iConserve is collaborating with the San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance on another genomics conservation program, this time to create the largest koala genomic database in the world! Illumina has sequenced nearly 100 koala whole genomes to help guide koala conservation efforts, aid in the prevention of disease, and help ensure the koala's long-term survival. I am honored to be part of this incredible, global effort, and had the opportunity to speak with the SD Union Tribune’s Natallie R. about how this project can inform koala conservation strategies. https://lnkd.in/ggkFKbMA

Thank you to Karine A. Viaud-Martinez, Gary Schroth, and the Illumina team for championing and supporting this initiative!
