Ashley Walters is a renowned cellist known for her brilliant performances and collaborations with composers in the new music scene.

She has gained recognition for her virtuosic and demanding solo works, being the dedicatee of notable additions to the cello repertoire.

Walters' debut solo album, Sweet Anxiety, has been highly acclaimed by critics and showcases her exceptional talent.

She is a key member of the Formalist Quartet, a group praised for its audacious programming and premiering a wide range of works.

Walters is also part of Wadada Leo Smith's Golden Quintet, contributing to the acclaimed album America's National Parks, recognized as Jazz Album of the Year.

Her educational background includes a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in Music from California Institute of the Arts, a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Music from Vanderbilt University, and a DMA in Contemporary Cello Performance from UC San Diego.

In addition to her musical endeavors, Walters has held roles such as Orchestra Conductor at Ventura College, Lecturer at Chapman University, Faculty at Moorpark College, and Cellist in the Formalist Quartet.

Her upcoming performances in the 2018-2019 season include appearances at prestigious venues like Jazz at Lincoln Center, Merkin Concert Hall, and the Angel City Jazz Festival.
