Highlights
Excited to share that I’ve accepted a Practicum placement offer from a private psychotherapy practice in downtown Oakville. I am so looking forward to beginning this next phase of my professional development beginning in January.
While interviewing, I was asked what other path I would follow if not psychotherapy. After a moment of pause, I responded that there is no other career that calls to me in the way that this one does.
Nearly 20 years after my initial struggle with mental health (anorexia, anxiety, depression & OCD), I will finally be given the honour of working toward becoming the practitioner I needed during my darkest days. While I’m nervous and definitely feel a sense of imposter syndrome, I am confident that the challenges I’ve faced and overcome have prepared me for what’s to come.
Even if certain steps don’t make sense at the time, I have learned the importance of following your gut, leaning in to introspection and the process of learning and loving yourself, and having trust in the powers that be. What is meant for you will be. Timing is everything 💗💫 … even for those of us who move at a slower pace 🐢

We often don’t know what lies behind a smile. The memories held. Of beauty and pain.
On this important day, I’d like to share something close to my heart.
January. Best marketed as a time of reinvention. A time for redefining our goals and ourselves. We get excited about change and what’s to come.
And then, the January slump. A time so difficult that last Monday marked the highest annual day of deaths by suicide. I know this time intimately. It’s been two years since I saw no escape from the depths of my depression. While I was fortunate to have my actions reversed by a loved one, not everyone is so lucky.
As I think about this period and how difficult it is, I realize the danger of society pushing and pressuring the idea of new beginnings.
Growth takes time, patience, support, determination, and resiliency. We cannot expect to go from one extreme to the other over night. Unsuccessful to successful. Poor to wealthy. Overweight to skinny. And yet this is the expectation set by the media, influencers, and others.
All of this is to say that if your year hasn’t started out the way you planned - that’s okay. Be patient with yourself and the process. If you challenge yourself every day, you will eventually get to where you are meant to. As cliche as this is to say, life really isn’t a race. Allow yourself the grace and time to grow into who you are destined to become ✨
Also, now, as always, is a good time to check in on loved ones. Even those you might think have it all together.
