Excelling in her education, Astrid pursued studies in International Relations, Middle Eastern Studies, Arabic and Chinese languages from reputable institutions like the University of Amsterdam, American University of Beirut, Jâmi'at Al-Qiddis Yussuf, and Beijing International Studies University.

Her career at UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, has seen her hold various key positions such as Chief of Section in Emergencies and Marketing, Senior Coordinator Duty of Care, and Chief Policy and Capacity Development in the Emergency Division.
