Autumn Sylvestri

Ecological Engineering Graduate Student | NSF-GRF

Autumn Sylvestri is an aspiring ecological engineer with a unique focus on using ecosystem-engineering plant and invertebrate species to design and restore ecosystems.

She is a NSF Graduate Research Fellow who will be pursuing her PhD in Ecological Engineering at The Ohio State University, having graduated from North Carolina State University with degrees in Biological Engineering and Plant Biology.

Her academic and research experiences have equipped her to work at both micro and macro scales of ecology, from lab bench experiments to landscape restoration projects.

Passionate about combining engineering principles with ecology, she designs systems that leverage biological interactions between plants, arthropods, and microbes.

Autumn has participated in programs like the Fulbright UK Summer Institutes and The GREEN Program, enhancing her ability to collaborate across disciplines within a global context.

She has a diverse educational background, including studies in Sustainable Food Production and Land Use, as well as Arts, Activism, and Social Justice.

Autumn Sylvestri has held various research positions at North Carolina State University, focusing on biological and agricultural engineering.
