#IWD24 - On this International Women's Day I want to take a moment to continue honoring the amazing women who have influenced my life in significant ways. The next inspirational pair are my two sisters, Yurdanur Kahya and Gunnur Taskan. As the youngest of the three, I have always looked up to them since I was young. I followed their example throughout my studies, and as an adult, they still inspire me every day.

Yurdanur Kahya is an exceptional leader; she is #fearless and open to change. Around 6-7 years ago, she left her #csuite position and moved her family to Australia. Often, people at the same stage as her develop a fear of losing what they have built. However, she was fearless and knew her assets: her mind, her ambition, and stamina were there to help her overcome any hurdles. Being an immigrant is never easy, due to regulations around visas and work permits, she had to start from the beginning and in 2-3 years, she got to where she had been before. #Herstory gives me courage to take risks, free myself from titles, positions, and fear of making a mistake.

Gunnur Taskan is the person who planted the seed of #curiosity in me. Her never-ending desire for learning has been an inspiration for me. From our early childhood, where she read to me every night, to today, where she shares something interesting in every conversation, she continues to help me grow as a person. She is fluent in 3 languages and can understand an additional 3. If there is a subject she is interested in, she will not only know the high-level view on it, she will know all the details and then some. Her #curiosity and #empathy provide a perfect recipe for building long-lasting relationships.

These two #women have taught me so much throughout my life and continue to do so. I celebrate all #brave and #fearless #women who have never given up on their desire to understand the world, continue their #learning journey, and lead with #empathy.

Happy International Women's Day to my sisters #sisterhood

As International Women’s Day approaches, I want to take a moment to honor the amazing women who have influenced my life in significant ways.

These mentors, role models, and supporters have not only changed my path, but have also shown me the importance of paving the way for other women.

They have taught me the power of using our voices and claiming a seat at the table, demonstrating that a new kind of leadership is not only possible but essential.

Their example of solidarity and sisterhood serves as a reminder that when we come together, there is no limit to what we can achieve. I am grateful for their unwavering guidance and strength, as they have helped shape me into the person I am today.

On the first day, I would like to recognize J Penney Frohling who has long been my mentor.

Our paths first crossed nearly a decade ago over a casual lunch, a meeting that would ultimately shape my decision to relocate to the UK. At the end of our lunch, she asked, "So, what do you want to do next? Do you want to become part of my team? You want to move to London, right?"

Her bold vision, confidence in her voice, and her ability to quickly discern my situation were inspiring. I could only say yes and be part of the entrepreneurial journey she undertook within a large firm.

Penney is an inspirational leader who can make fast and bold decisions. Questions and decisions that may be complicated for others are easily narrowed down and simplified to their core by her.

Over the following ~8 years, as I have worked with Penney, I have learnt that a different kind of leadership is possible.

She deeply empathizes with her team and shows commitment to their well-being, does not compromise on content, and tackles hard questions head-on.

As I have taken on more responsibility and assumed wider leadership roles, I have realized how challenging it is to balance all these components.

She has been my boss, my mentor, my sponsor, my advocate, and my friend. Thank you for being part of my journey. #internationalwomensday2024 #internationalwomensday #womenshistorymonth #mentorship #inspirationalleaders
