Bartosz Ciolkowski is the General Manager for Southeast Europe at Mastercard, a position he has held since February 2023. In this role, he is responsible for implementing Mastercard's strategy across several countries in the region, including Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Israel, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, and Serbia. His focus is on developing electronic payments and collaborating with business and government partners to enhance the payment ecosystem.1
Ciolkowski has been with Mastercard since 2005 and previously served as the General Manager for Poland, where he significantly contributed to the growth of the electronic payments sector. He played a key role in initiatives such as the establishment of the Cashless Poland Foundation and Mastercard's investment in the Polish Payment Standard (PSP), which oversees the BLIK payment system. Additionally, he has managed Mastercard's operations in the Czech and Slovak markets.1

Last Thursday, I attended the Future of Payments conference and gala, where I received an award in the category "Ahead of the Future. Visionary." This is a special honor for me.
Working for many years in an environment where finance is intertwined with technology is a constant search for new innovative solutions and going beyond the usual patterns. This is quite a challenge, which often forces you to take risks. However, I believe that only in this way, we can reach new heights.
Can I be called a visionary? It's not for me to answer that question, but I know one thing for sure. Behind every visionary is a team that provides him with a huge dose of inspiration and motivation.
That's why I would like to thank everyone I have the pleasure of working with on a daily basis. Every conversation with you, from a casual discussion over coffee to serious strategy meetings, is a valuable experience for me that I wouldn't trade for anything else.
I would also like to thank Cashless Poland Foundation for this special award and congratulate you on preparing the inspiring Future of Payments conference. I believe that this is just the beginning of a new series of events that will become an incubator of ideas for the further development of the payments industry.

I jakkolwiek trudno definitywnie rozstawać się z polskim zespołem, to ogromnie się cieszę, że zostawiam go w kompetentnych rękach Marta Zycinska, MBA, która od 1 maja obejmie oficjalnie rolę dyrektorki generalnej polskiego oddziału Mastercard Europe. Z Martą miałem przyjemność pracować przez ostatnich kilka lat. Gdy dołączyła do Mastercard wniosła zupełnie świeże spojrzenie i podejście do marketingu. Przez lata jej perspektywa, dojrzałość biznesowa i umiejętność patrzenia na biznes z wielu, często nieoczywistych, perspektyw, była ogromną wartością, jaką wnosiła w wiele projektów. Przy tym jej zawsze dobra energia, pozytywne podejście i entuzjazm sprawiały, że praca z nią to był często po prostu świetnie spędzony, kreatywny czas.
