KENYA EMERGENCY MARKET FIRE RESPONSE
Baitulmaal.org
As-salaamu Alaikum / Greetings of Peace,
The day after Eid Al-Adha, a horrific fire broke out in the central market of Wajir county, Soqa Mijinga, destroying hundreds of shops and burning thousands of dollars worth of cash and goods.
Thankfully no lives were lost, but the fire claimed the goods and savings of Kenyans who rely on the market for their livelihoods.
This includes: Tens of thousands of dollars (millions of Kenyan shillings) complete combustion of goods in all market stores 150 shops completely burnt & 350 shops partially burnt
Already facing severe drought, residents used what little water they had available to put out the blaze, losing even more of this precious resource in the process. A market center that was bustling on the day of Eid is now reduced to twisted metal and ash.
Baitulmaal is mobilizing an Emergency Aid Package to help Kenyans impacted by the fire to rehabilitate their shops and sustain their families through this tragedy.
Please contribute what you can to help our brothers and sisters in Kenya. DONATE With compassion,
Elizabeth Sohail Program Director Baitulmaal, Inc. Turn Your Compassion Into Hope #help #kenya #water
