Happy #Juneteenth, y'all!
As co-chairs for the Black Impact Group at Conduent, Gwendolyn Phinizy and I had the opportunity to present a special program for this Jubilee Day 2024. We had the privilege of introducing the hundreds of colleagues that joined us to some of the community events happening around the country and the globe to celebrate freedom, resilience and equality. There's likely an event happening in your own backyard and there's still time to find it!
Part of our presentation was devoted to dispelling some of the enduring myths surrounding Juneteenth. While these don’t take away from the importance of this day, myths often obscure the historical record. (https://lnkd.in/gvnkN68b).
As co-chair of the Black Impact Group (BIG) at Conduent, we're thrilled to celebrate Black History Month 2024 with all of our colleagues around the world. This year, we're diving into the theme of "African Americans and the Arts." Throughout February, BIG is hosting exciting events to honor the rich contributions of African Americans in various artistic realms and spotlight trailblazers who broke barriers, uplifted the Black community, and inspired the nation. BIG will showcase events like the Harlem Renaissance, a pivotal period in American history that reshaped music, dance, art, literature, and more. Later in February, we are honored to welcome Efe Igor Coleman, Blackmon Perry Assistant Curator of African American Art & Art of the African Diaspora at the Brooks Museum. Ms. Coleman will shed light on the enduring impact of African and African American influences on the global art scene and introduce a new generation of talented Black artists. Join me, my co-chair Gwendolyn Phinizy and our BIG leaders in spirit to embrace the creativity, diversity, and innovation that make our Conduent community so extraordinary. Together, we honor our past and pave the way for a brighter future.
