Beau Houser, also known as M. Houser, is the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) at the U.S. Census Bureau. He assumed this role in September 2019, succeeding Tim Ruland, who retired in 2018.25 Prior to joining the Census Bureau, Houser served as the CISO for the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and as the Deputy CISO at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, where he was responsible for cybersecurity aspects of healthcare.gov.14
