At Gather Capital we think that part of the reason that big LPs, like CalPERs, invest in the biggest PE firms is the fee free/carry free co-invest (so on a blended basis CalPERS is no longer paying 2/20).
We're looking to understand the fee structure for independent sponsors in the lower-middle market (<$15mm EBITDA) and see how it compares to the standard 2/20 that PE firms charge.
