Ben Crossett

Associate Director at University of Sydney

Dr. Ben Crossett is the Associate Director of Sydney Mass Spectrometry at the University of Sydney, where he plays a vital role in advancing research in proteomics and metabolomics. His academic journey began at the University of Manchester, where he earned a BSc(Hons) in Biochemistry, followed by a PhD from the University of Cambridge. His post-doctoral research at Imperial College London sparked his interest in proteomics, particularly in investigating novel anti-microbial and vaccine targets in Burkholderia pseudomallei.

In 2004, Dr. Crossett moved to Sydney to help establish what would become one of Australia's largest providers of liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry (LCMS) services for life sciences. Under his leadership, the Sydney Mass Spectrometry facility has expanded significantly, now offering a broad range of analytical services and housing 20 mass spectrometers across multiple locations, including the Charles Perkins Centre and the Kolling Institute.123

Dr. Crossett's work focuses on utilizing proteomic and metabolomic techniques to study various biological systems, contributing to significant advancements in the field. He is recognized for his expertise and has been involved in numerous research projects that span diverse biological applications.1
