What is your main source of website traffic?

Why it matters:

In marketing, there are many ways to spend (or waste) money, like Google Ads, Facebook Ads, SEO, content marketing, and more. The options can be overwhelming.

Identifying the most effective traffic channels helps you prioritize your efforts (and spending).

From my experience, many companies try different methods at once. But, by stepping back and focusing on the channels that truly make a difference, they can seize opportunities to boost their marketing impact.

How?

Emphasize what generates positive results.

At the same time, avoid investing time and resources in avenues that don't deliver desired outcomes, even if competitors are doing so.

Helpful resource:

Google Analytics Reports: Go to "Reports" in your GA4 Google Analytics Account, then to Acquisition, then to User Acquisition. By default you'll see the "First user default Channel Group" report.

Scroll down and change the source to "First user source" and you'll see a list of the websites, apps, ads, social platforms, etc. that are driving the most users to your site. You might be surprised what you find!

Avg. Company's view of marketing: "Try different methods and hope for the best."

Great Company's view of marketing: "Focus on high-performing channels; continually improve strategies."

Avg. Company's marketing approach is reactive and lacks continuous learning. They react to changes with panic (and people get fired).

Great Companies focus on sustainable growth through strategic repeatable systems.
