Ever since Neyborly ended, I've been searching for the right team and mission to get behind...and I finally found it.
For the past year, I've been helping the wonderfully talented founders of Crosshatch --- Soren Larson and Jesse Halpern --- to build out the initial workings of what I think will be a new way of experiencing the internet.
Ludicrous claim, I get it. But, the mission of Crosshatch is nothing less than to completely re-imagine how we interact with our favorite websites.
One of the central underlying constructs of the modern internet is that your data and information are being passed around, bought, and sold... and usually without your direct consent or knowledge.
This leads to websites guessing at who you are and making inferences about you based on ill-gotten information.
The central question we're posing at Crosshatch is this: what if the internet didn't function behind your back? What if you were in control? What if you could choose when and with whom to share your personal data?
Well, then, as early VP of Siri, Rob Phillips, put it recently...you'd have an "OAuth into you, the human". And that's exactly what we're building.
I'm so grateful to be working with such an ambitious, hard-working, and thoughtful group of people. Can't wait to see where this journey takes us!
