Ben Sher is a highly experienced and accomplished New York freelance jazz guitarist and Professor of Music with nearly thirty years of active involvement in both performance and education. Throughout his career, Ben has explored a wide array of musical genres and settings, from playing organ trio gigs reminiscent of George Benson's early days in Pittsburgh to collaborating with top Brazilian musicians in New York. His musical journey has taken him to international stages, where he has showcased his talent as a soloist in Brazilian Jazz in Moscow and Japan, and toured with renowned figures from the 'Downtown Jazz' scene. Ben's discography is diverse, ranging from minimalism to fusion jazz to Brazilian pop to early Ellington swing, reflecting his versatile style and influences. As a musician and educator, Ben Sher seamlessly integrates his vast experiences into his current artistic endeavors and teaching practices.

With a solid educational background, Ben holds a Master's degree in music from the New England Conservatory of Music, a Bachelor's Degree in Music from Carnegie Mellon University, and has also studied at Berklee College of Music. He currently serves as a Full Professor at Berklee College of Music, where he imparts his knowledge and passion for music to the next generation of musicians. Prior to this role, Ben was an Adjunct Professor at Wagner College and made significant contributions as a guitarist at Jazz Performance.
