What a week!
This past week, the Obama Leaders Program 2023 came to a close. And yet, it feels like a beginning in so many ways.
We gathered in Athens for some days to connect not only in our small European cohort, but also with brilliant human beings from Asia-Pacific and the African continent, the Obama Foundation team, as well as former President Barack Obama himself.
The days we spent together clearly highlighted how hard of a job it is to drive change; how difficult it is to navigate the complexities of social, environmental and societal transformations; and how change never happens linearly.
And at the same time, that past week gave me a lot of hope - hope that yes, we can change things for the better. 🌎
But here’s the thing about hope: It calls on you, on me, on all of us to get involved. It’s a call to action to stand up for the things that matter to us:
„Hope locates itself in the premises that we don’t know what will happen and that in the spaciousness of uncertainty is room to act. When you recognize uncertainty, you recognize that you may be able to influence the outcomes – you alone or you in concert with a few dozen or several million others. Hope is an embrace of the unknown and knowable, an alternative to the certainty of both optimists and pessimists.“ (Rebecca Solnit)
Let's do it! 🙌🏼
