It's been one week (on the date of this post) since the 2024 Paris Olympics ended. It was one of the most memorable Olympics in my lifetime.

Looking at the MANY memorable moments, and there were MANY, if I had to choose one that inspired me the most, it has to be Cole Hocker (American) winning the men's 1500M gold medal. To qualify for the final, each runner finished in the top six in two qualifying races to advance to the final.

The two favorites in the final were Jakob Ingebrigtsen (Norway) and Josh Kerr (Great Britain). Both runners proclaimed their greatness in the media (and on social media) and their intent was to defeat the other and win the gold medal at the Paris Olympics in this event.

Hocker's victory inspired me for many reasons that top my list of inspirations at the 2024 Olympics.

Hocker was NOT intimidated by the media hype surrounding Ingebrigtsen and Kerr, even though Kerr was the 2023 World Champion and Ingebrigtsen won the gold medal in the 1500M in the 2020 Olympics.

Hocker's confidence was boosted by his coach when he told Hocker he wasn't nervous about this race because he was confident.

Hocker's training for this race had him in the best condition of his career.

Hocker knows his superpower is "finishing" each race in which he competes. Boy, did he use his superpower to finish first in this race!!!

Hocker was in the middle of the pack during most of this race. He stayed in contention until it was the right time to flip to the highest gear of his racing career for the finish.

Hocker fought his way through the inside track in a risky, low probability move that paid off when he emerged with daylight in front of him after being blocked by two runners.

The end result was an ASTONISHING finish to first place and the gold medal. Kerr finished in second for the silver and Ingebrigtsen finished in fourth (no medal).

The inspirations to me are: 👊🏼 You have to qualify to be in the final race where a winner is declared. 👊🏼 You must have a strategy for each "race" you run. 👊🏼 Stick with your strategy in the heat of the race. 👊🏼 Know your superpower and use it at the right moment. 👊🏼 When the moment calls for boldness, be bold. 👊🏼 Ignore the hype swirling around you. 👊🏼 Have a coach who believes in you and tells you so. 👊🏼 Train hard to be the best you can be. 👊🏼 It's not how you start. It's how you finish. 👊🏼 Don't trash talk your competition. 👊🏼 Stay humble even as others celebrate your victory.

What inspiration do you get from this amazing Olympic victory by Cole Hocker?

Selling Your Way IN isn't just another book on sales. Kristie K. Jones delivers a modern masterpiece on selling, in part because she articulates 24 "Kristieisms" principles she lives by, which have served her sales career well.

From her "kitchen table MBA" to her two decades working with sales leaders to optimize their team's success, to her three-year rule, to her companion downloadable workbook, this book is an experience.

What stands out for me is how much Kristie cares about the sales profession and that she wants sales professionals to thrive, not just in sales, but in life.

Does the book present winning sales strategies? Yes.

However, the reader will experience these strategies, rather than simply read about them due to how Kristie delivers the content.

If you're in sales, get this book. If you know someone in sales, gift this book to them. Here's where you can get it. 👇🏼
