I had the privilege of spending a recent and unforgettable afternoon with my friend, Les Hoogland, who I met through the West Michigan Regional Airport. Mayor Les Hoogland retired as mayor of Zeeland in 2011 at 81 and he hasn’t slowed down much over the past 13 years. We toured our lakeshore community from a birds-eye view stopping by the airport as staff and family met Les with the red carpet treatment.
