Beth Torres
President & CEO at Make-A-Wish Middle Tennessee
Beth Torres is the President and CEO of Make-A-Wish Foundation of Middle Tennessee, where she has played a pivotal role in transforming the organization over the past decade. Under her leadership, the foundation has significantly increased its operational capacity, doubling its staff and tripling its revenue to $3.2 million, while also enhancing the number of wishes granted annually to 155.1
Torres's career began in sports marketing, but a challenging experience at a poorly managed organization prompted her to shift towards nonprofit work. She started her nonprofit journey with Junior Achievement USA, where she realized that effective management and business principles could coexist with mission-driven work. This realization fueled her passion for advocating for nonprofits as viable and impactful entities.1
She holds an Executive MBA from Vanderbilt University, where she was awarded the Nonprofit Management Scholarship. This academic background has been instrumental in her approach to leading Make-A-Wish, as she emphasizes the importance of applying business strategies to nonprofit management.1 Additionally, she is involved in initiatives that connect business students with nonprofit boards through programs like the Owen Board Fellows, which aims to bridge the gap between corporate leadership and community service.1
Torres's commitment to enhancing nonprofit effectiveness is evident in her belief that organizations should adapt and evolve to meet community needs. Her leadership style reflects a blend of compassion for the mission and a strategic mindset aimed at sustainable growth and impact.1

Don't panic, I haven't started coaching youth hockey (yet).
The Dragonhearts played in the 10U championship game in last weekend's The Wish Cup. They played in honor of a local wish kid and this team played with heart!
The Wish Cup tournament is a labor of love from one of Make-A-Wish Middle Tennessee's wish families. The tournaments' founder, Colby Collier, created the series to help grant wishes for children like his son, Asher, who is critically ill. Asher received his wish and now this tournament ensures other wishes will come true in Middle Tennessee!
Thank you to the Dragonhearts, The Wish Cup, and everyone who participates in the roller and ice tournament.
