As a board member of NCRC, Sanchez contributes to the organization's mission of creating economic opportunities for individuals, small businesses, and communities through fair and equal access to capital and credit.1 Her leadership helps guide NCRC's efforts in advocating for fair housing, fair lending, and community development initiatives across the United States.
Highlights
Opportunity Zones - Can you provide an example of an OZ-funded development that is being created, in which the community where it is located is part of the process of deciding to site it there? A program that is actually going to benefit those who live and work near the development and not just those getting the tax breaks? This article from Bloomberg discusses other issues with the program too. I am interested in whether OZ has been helpful in some situations.
Looking to get heard? I am looking for your input on current economic issues facing low and moderate income communities in Milwaukee, and across Wisconsin. That input will be used to inform my responses to questions that the Federal Reserve Board is asking me, as one of 15 members of the Fed's Community Advisory Council (CAC).
During the past several months, have you noticed any changes to the lending climate affecting small business, home mortgage, multifamily and affordable housing, and/or consumer loans?
Do you see recent economic developments in our region that may not be apparent from the reported data or that may be early indications of trends that may not yet have become apparent in aggregated data?
Do you have recent observations about local house prices, rental rates, or the local labor market?
Twice a year, we (the CAC) gather in DC to compile our thoughts on the economic circumstances and financial services needs of low and moderate income people we serve. And we present the information to Fed's Board of Governors via a written document and an in-person meeting with Fed Chairman Jay Powell and the other Governors of the Federal Reserve Board.
Email me by Wed., 8/21 at [email protected] with your thoughts. Thanks!
