Bettina Swigger

Bettina Swigger is the current CEO of the Downtown Boulder Partnership.4 She is an advocate for arts, culture, and vibrant communities.2 Swigger has over 15 years of experience in nonprofit leadership and management.35 She is a practitioner of design thinking and a champion of creativity, collaboration, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.5
Swigger was the CEO of Downtown SLO from October 2018 to November 2023.5 During her time as CEO, she expanded the Downtown SLO Farmers’ Market to be more inclusive and serve as an incubator for entrepreneurs.13 She also grew the Clean & Safe Program to include three ambassadors and a part-time contract social worker to conduct homeless outreach.13 In addition, Swigger launched a Singer-Songwriter Showcase at Concerts in the Plaza and expanded the annual holiday lights.1 She also guided Downtown SLO through the COVID pandemic.13
Before Downtown SLO, Swigger was the Executive Director at Festival Mozaic from January 2011 to September 2018.15 Prior to that, she was the Executive Director of the Cultural Office of the Pikes Peak Region (COPPeR) from January 2008 to January 2011.5 Swigger was also an Emerging Leader Council Member at Americans for the Arts from 2009 to 2011 and a CSLI Class of 2010 member at the Colorado Springs Leadership Institute in 2010.5
Swigger graduated from Colorado College with a Bachelor of Arts in Comparative Literature, Music, and Spanish.15 She also has a College Reading and Learning Association Writing Tutor Level 4 certification.5 Swigger is a native of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and lived in Colorado for 13 years.1
