As part of Mental Health Awareness Month I wanted to share an article that I have been featured in shining a light on the challenges that men face experiencing Alopecia Universalis.
Given the rarity of this condition - around 0.03% of the world population is thought to experience it - it felt difficult finding others have have been through this who could help normalise everything that was happening. Being part of this article and reading through the thoughts from everyone I realise there is much of what they shared that I remember feeling too.
I met Orlando Gili last year in a chance meeting, and I'm genuinely grateful for having the opportunity to share some of my story with him.
I hope some of this helps others who may be going through the same thing find strength.

Government policy in the UK has led to the situation Universities find themselves in today, recently coming close to eviscerating graduate visas and working hard to create the incorrect perception that all they do is teach undergrad course in areas where degrees aren't necessary for a job.
What needs to be understood is:
- Universities contribute around £130 Billion to the economy
- This is one of our core cultural exports; UK Education is one of the few areas the rest of the world considers to be exemplary
- They are considerably one of the most important enablers of social mobility in the country, largely driven by ex-Polytechnic Universities
- UK Universities are a major source of Foreign Direct Investment
- The UK has an aging population, so working age migration is critical for the economy. Universities drive highly educated migrant students to fulfill the need for skilled employees
- Every £1 or public sector R&D spend leads to £7 of net benefit for the UK
Our Education system should be one of our most prized assets and is being systematically undermined by government rhetoric and funding to make the UK less attractive to international learners.
