Bhavya Shah
Neuroradiologist
Bhavya R. Shah, M.D. is an Associate Professor of Radiology at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Neuroradiology Division.13 He holds secondary appointments as Associate Professor of Neurosurgery, the Advanced Imaging Research Center, and the Center for Alzheimer's and Neurodegenerative Diseases.1 Dr. Shah is also the Director of the Transcranial-Focused Ultrasound Lab.1
Education and Training
Dr. Shah received his bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis and earned his medical degree at the University of Missouri School of Medicine in Columbia.1 He completed his residency training at Boston University Medical Center and received advanced training through a two-year National Institutes of Health-funded T-32 fellowship program at Stanford University School of Medicine.1 He subsequently completed a fellowship in neuroradiology at the University of Chicago Medical Center.1
Research and Clinical Interests
Dr. Shah's primary clinical and research interests focus on the application of transcranial focused ultrasound (FUS) for the treatment of neurologic and psychiatric diseases.12 He has developed advanced imaging approaches to personalize MR-Guided High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (MRgHIFU) for treating Essential Tremor and Tremor Dominant Parkinson's Disease.1 Dr. Shah also leads several brain focused ultrasound clinical trials for Alzheimer's Disease and Brain Tumors.1

Dr. Shah is an active member of several professional organizations, including the Radiological Society of North America, the American Society of Neuroradiology, the American Society of Functional Neuroradiology, the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, and the Society of NeuroInterventional Surgery.1
