Highlights
Flashback 26 years ago when I soft launched my 1st sensor-based watch (designed for tracking swim efficiency) at the 1997 IronMan World Triathlon Championship in Kona, Hawaii.
With limited resources, no distribution and an unknown brand I took a gamble and flew to Kona the week prior to the event. Each morning I would swim the course (uninvited) with a group of pro triathletes. Upon completion I'd tell them I had just broken the course record for the fewest strokes taken. This generated quite a few raised eyebrows, considerable interest and numerous requests for samples which I gladly provided.
The result? The women's winner, Heather Furr, appeared in the December 1997 issue of Triathlete Magazine wearing my watch which proved instrumental in securing a world wide distribution deal with Speedo. More importantly, this event launched my career in wearables.
The "Holy Grail" of health wearables, if true.
