My first job at 10 was delivering newspapers. I got to do collections too!
My first formal job was flipping hamburgers at L.C.'s Hamburgers. Les Ridenhour was my first real boss, and to this day my all time favorite.
When I was in college I worked three jobs. The best one was posting American Express posters on campus and getting paid when people signed up.
After graduating in 3.5 years, I got a job teaching 7th grade language arts. That was great fun, and I thought I'd be a teacher and a coach.
But when I got a full ride to go to law school, it was too good to pass up. I managed an apartment during law school to make ends meet.
I thought I'd practice for a small firm, but ended up with Blackwell Sanders, one of the biggest in the city. I learned a lot from my senior partner Jim Warden.
In my craziest move, I left the law firm to do a start up foundation affiliated with the National Christian Foundation. People like Dave Worland and David Wills were instrumental in that start up.
Along the way, I've been able to meet lots of incredible people and leaders. Every person has a story to tell!
That journey led to consulting with families on their legacy journey and ultimately a new purpose--helping families change their trajectory today...and for generations to come.
