Since 2007, Canada Company, the charity I founded to provide much-needed support to our military members, veterans and their families, has proudly awarded more than $1.1 million in scholarships to the children of those who died while serving in the Canadian Armed Forces | Forces armées canadiennes.

The 2024 Canada Company Scholarship Presentation Ceremony took place at The National Club in Toronto last week, and we were pleased to be joined by many of this year’s recipients and their families. We remain humbled by their resilience in the face of tragedy and we’re proud to support them as they pursue their studies, turning tragedy to triumph.

We were delighted to welcome distinguished guests, including The Honourable Edith Dumont, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, and Brigadier-General Tod Strickland, as well as many longtime supporters.

We also welcomed members of the media who spoke to some of our recipients to find out what the scholarship means to them. Click here to watch the CTV News Toronto segment: https://lnkd.in/gUTJ6HJr

Thank you to all those who made this event a success, including our emcee John Wright and the entire team at Canada Company: Marie Claire Ouellette, Jay Yakabowich, Serena G. and Jenna Steinbach.

At Canada Company, our motto is Many Ways to Serve and we remain committed to serving those who serve our country. For more information on all our programs and initiatives, visit canadacompany.ca.

I was humbled to receive an Honorary Degree from the University of Toronto, and as a proud U of T alumnus, I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to address this year’s University of Toronto - Victoria University graduates at the spring 2024 convocation ceremony held June 17.

It’s always special getting to speak directly to the future leaders of our country, and I took the opportunity to share a message of optimism, noting that what awaits them now is a future that's not only in their hands, it's also theirs to create.

Thank you once again to U of T Chancellor Ms Rose M Patten, U of T President Meric Gertler, Victoria University President and Vice-Chancellor Rhonda M. (McEwan), the distinguished members of the platform party and the Class of 2024 for allowing me to share the stage with them on that special day.
