Why Hiring a Fractional VP of Sales Could Be Your Company’s Best Move Yet.

In today’s fast-paced business environment, companies often face the challenge of driving sales growth while managing costs. Hiring a full-time VP of Sales might seem like the obvious choice, but there’s another option that can deliver significant benefits: a Fractional VP of Sales.

Here’s why a Fractional VP of Sales might be the right fit for your company:

✅ Cost-Effective Expertise: You get access to a seasoned sales leader without the full-time salary, benefits, and overhead costs. This allows you to allocate resources more efficiently while still benefiting from top-tier sales strategies and leadership.

✅ Flexibility: A Fractional VP of Sales can work on a part-time or project basis, adapting to the specific needs of your business. Whether you need help launching a new product, entering a new market, or revamping your sales process, they provide the agility your business requires.

✅ Focused Impact: Because their time is dedicated to achieving specific goals, a Fractional VP of Sales can deliver targeted results quickly. Their experience enables them to hit the ground running, driving performance and accountability across your sales team.

✅ Scalability: As your business grows, a Fractional VP of Sales can help you scale your sales operations. They bring best practices from various industries, ensuring that your sales strategies evolve with your business needs.

What to Measure When Hiring a Fractional VP of Sales:

📈 Revenue Growth: Track the impact on your top-line growth. A key measure of success is how well they can boost sales and contribute to revenue generation.

📈 Sales Process Optimization: Evaluate how effectively they streamline your sales processes, reduce bottlenecks, and enhance team productivity.

📈Team Development: Look at how they mentor and develop your sales team. A great Fractional VP of Sales will leave your team stronger and more capable.

📈Customer Acquisition & Retention: Measure improvements in both acquiring new customers and retaining existing ones. Their strategies should drive long-term customer relationships.

📈Strategic Alignment: Ensure their efforts align with your company’s broader business goals. They should integrate seamlessly with your leadership team and contribute to your overall strategic direction.

If your company is ready to accelerate growth without the overhead of a full-time hire, a Fractional VP of Sales might be the game-changer you’ve been looking for.

At RCG Workgroup, we specialize in connecting companies with the right fractional leaders to drive their success.

Let’s talk about how we can help you take your sales to the next level.

"I remember the last season I played. I went home after a ballgame one day, lay down on my bed, and tears came to my eyes. How can you explain that? It's like crying for your mother after she's gone. You cry because you love her. I cried, I guess, because I loved baseball, and I knew I had to leave it." ~ Willie Mays

On June 18th, Willie Mays, the "Say Hey Kid" made his final out.

Baseball fans will mourn the loss of the greatest Giant to ever play the game, as well as the best all around ball player.

And the world is now a little less bright without the insight and humility of a truly great person and not just a generational baseball player.

In giving deference to the Negro League pioneers who preceded him, Willie Mays once said, "Every time I look at my pocketbook, I see Jackie Robinson."

But, for me the passing of Willie Mays was a more personal moment.

In 1970, a young boy from Stamford, Connecticut became a minor celebrity to his third grade class when his father, Lee Greene, authored a book about Willie Mays that was being sold through the Scholastic Book Fair at our school.

"The Baseball Life of Willie Mays," by Lee Greene.

The cost back then was ninety-five cents.

Willie Mays was quite the sensation, and my class was ecstatic that my dad was the book's author and that he had offered to personally autograph any of the copies that my classmates purchased.

What Pops didn't realize was that his son, Bobby, was charging his friends twenty-five cents an autograph, which he promptly made me return once he found out.

(So, I guess you could say that Willie Mays was the catalyst to my career in sales and entrepreneurship).

Anyway, these memories came flooding back to me as I saw old school chums share their memories on Facebook of my pops and his book in conjunction with the news that Willie Mays had died peacefully at the age of 93.

So, while I'm basking in the glow of remembering how cool it felt to have a celebrity dad, I want to share the blurb from the back of his book to let young readers know what to expect when they opened its pages.

"You better send me back to the minors," says rookie Willie Mays. "I told you I couldn't hit this pitching."
The manager - Leo Durocher - looks at him. "So, you haven't been hitting. So, what?" he says. "Everybody has slumps."
Durocher knew Willie Mays was really good. But not even he knew what a great player Mays would become.
Here is the whole exciting story of Willie Mays, major-league star and - next to Babe Ruth - the greatest home run hitter in history."*

~ Lee Greene

"What you are thinking, what shape your mind is in, is what makes the biggest difference of all." ~ Willie Mays

Thank you, Mr. Mays.

*"The Baseball Life of Willie Mays" was first published by Scholastic in 1970, before Alex Rodriguez (696) and Albert Pujols (703) broke Willie Mays' home run record of 660, and before Hank Aaron (755) and Barry Bonds (762) surpassed Babe Ruth's record of 714 home runs.
