Highlights
Just a gentle reminder that in 2024 you need to replace weak administrative controls with strong technical controls. You know, like replacing phishing simulations with FIDO authentication.
We will all fall for the ruse eventually, so make sure nothing bad happens when your staff do what the bad guys tell them to do.
Interested in software 𝙦𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮? I came across a couple of articles that you might enjoy. Read on!
The first is an article about software quality by Martin Fowler. We need a lot more conversation and research on software 𝙦𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮, and Martin's conclusion is fascinating: "The 'cost' of high internal quality software is negative. The usual trade-off between cost and quality, one that we are used to for most decisions in our life, does not make sense with the internal quality of software." See: https://lnkd.in/g8REDtQs
That got me thinking about the old restaurant kitchen mantra, "Clean as you go!". It didn't take long to find this great blog post by Jason Lengstorf. It's super impactful to hear about his experiences both working in a kitchen and as a developer. See: https://lnkd.in/gsb5PQ4t
Software 𝙦𝙪𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 is conspicuously missing from many of our our conversations about software security. We need more posts like these to explore software quality. My thanks to both these experts for taking the time to share their views.
Feel free to chime in with other thoughts on software quality!
