Highlights
Dear LinkedIn Community, I need to address a grave and escalating issue about the insidious rise of anti-Semitism in our workplaces, particularly impacting young Jewish adults. A chilling study updated in 2023 revealed a stark reality: 1 in 4 hiring managers admitted to not advancing Jewish applicants because the applicants are Jewish. This isn't just a statistic; it's a reflection of a pervasive and deep-rooted prejudice that is palpable throughout the interview process and within the workplace itself.
The situation has only intensified amidst the ongoing conflict in Israel, where geopolitics unjustly seep into professional judgments, further ostracizing Jewish professionals. These young individuals, eager to contribute their talents and skills, are instead facing an invisible barrier, woven from the threads of age-old biases and contemporary conflicts. The Jewish community, no stranger to adversity, is once again reminded that the specter of anti-Semitism remains a haunting presence.
For the past couple of weeks, when I am meeting with students or young professionals involved with Career Up Now, they now express that they personally feel this in their hiring processes and the anti-semitism in their workplaces. And they are scared--as am I. Though I am more dedicated then ever to help build a community of caring industry leaders, non-antisemitic individuals, who can provide guidance, mentorship, and even job opportunities to Jewish young adults.
I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the LinkedIn community that has stood firmly against anti-Semitism and has offered invaluable support and mentorship to our students and young professionals. Your solidarity and action make a world of difference, offering a guiding light in times of adversity.
To the young Jewish professionals out there: stay strong. The road may be fraught with challenges, but your resilience and courage are your greatest assets. Remember, you are not alone. If you or anyone you know, be it a young professional or college student, needs support, Career Up Now and I am here to lend a hand. Together, we can, and we will, rise above these challenges and pave the way for a future where such prejudices are relics of the past.
This motivates me even more to do the work I've been doing for years having founded Career Up Now. If you are interested in helping mentor Jewish students, providing jobs, or getting involved. Please DM me.
With determination, gratitude, and hope.
