Highlights
I’m incredibly excited that Nike’s Waffle Iron Entertainment’s newest documentary film, Lucha: A Wrestling Tale, will have its World Premiere at DOC NYC in November! In partnership with our clients at Waffle Iron Entertainment, we started working with Marco Ricci, the amazingly talented director of this film, over three years ago. It has been an amazing partnership and collaborative effort to capture this inspiring story and bring it to the world. I remember reading the initial storyline of this documentary, and I immediately knew it was a story the world needed to see, and Waffle Iron needed to help tell!
A fresh spin on the story of high school sports as the path to transformation and redemption, Lucha takes us inside the Taft High School women’s wrestling team on their journey to a championship. Personal challenges abound, from unsupportive families to homelessness, but these four young women from the Bronx—Shirley, Nyasia, Mariam, and Alba—find solace and hope in each other and on the mat.
A big congratulations to our partner at Nike, Justin Biskin, and my many colleagues, for bringing a true story of how sport can change lives, to the world.
We are hiring for a new Director of Business Development! If you or someone you know would be great for this role, please apply! If you actually know me, feel free to DM or text! Really excited to continue expanding the Observatory team!
