Special thanks to Allison Beth Hodgkins and the World Affairs Council of Maine for the opportunity to engage with the Cybersecurity delegation from the Middle East and North Africa yesterday. The group came to the US under the auspices of the State Department's International Visitor Leadership Program - a public diplomacy initiative that brings emerging global leaders nominated by our embassies around the world to the US for professional development and cultural exchange.  The delegation consisted of nine cyber security officials from six countries and territories in the Middle East, including Morocco, Algeria, Libya, UAE, and Lebanon. The group was engaged and practical in their approach to balance the economic calculus many organizations make when determining how/where - or if - they choose to invest in cybersecurity. We all face many of the same challenges and one thing we all agreed on is that the stakes have never been higher.
