I’ve tried a lot of things in the past year since I quit my first “real” job.
I’ve tried planting crops on a farm in Colombia. I’ve tried freelancing roles in Melbourne. Most ambitiously, a couple of phone calls soon turned into trying to build a multi-city event.
DIY merch drops, packaged hotel deals, and 100 kg of branded water bottles later, the AI Marketing Summit came and went with great feedback from the hundreds of attendees. For something we’d never done, in a space without any qualifications, that to me is a massive win (thanks, Event Planner GPT).
When I sum up my experiences, as I see it we’ve got two pathways for growth. A) experience the world for ourselves and recalibrate based on what we find, or B) listen to others, and recalibrate based on what they tell us.
In a year of rejecting the status quo for discovery through path A, spending that time with Justin helped me fill my B cup. The time spent off-task, shooting the breeze of life with a bunch of entrepreneurs (cc Laura, Mia, Kate), was in many ways its own education.
While I keep exploring what’s out there for me, I’ll continue oscillating between those A and B states. And for whatever I try next, I’ll let you know what’s working ✌️
