Highlights
Thinking about the “wins” of 2021, taking 4 months to explore our big backyard in Australia with my family trumps everything for me.
Coming back to work, people ask what was the “best thing” you did on the trip… I find it really hard to answer and usually stumble around trying recall an experience which captures some of the little details… the truth is it’s the whole thing; camping on beaches in the middle of nowhere, meeting really interesting people and hearing about the journey they’re on, swimming in ancient waterholes, stumbling upon secret campsites, seeing our wildlife in the wild, noticing how the wildflowers and the tone of the red dirt changes along the road, BBQs on the back of the Ute watching the sun go down on rocks and our oceans.
It’s opened my eyes to some of the challenges we face as a nation. I’ve had to problem solve like never before. As a marketer I understand more about what it’s like in the real world. Reflected on how much energy is wasted when when we don’t make the time to stop and focus. As a dad, I can’t believe how amazing a 4 year old brain is. And how much team work matters in making a marriage.
If you have an itch to get out there - scratch. There’s always a good reason not too, but often no reason you can’t. #travelgoals
