I am thrilled to announce that I have rejoined the partnership of O'Melveny & Myers LLP, the firm where I grew up and spent 17 years. The future of finance depends on getting #banking, #fintech, and #crypto right. I've tried to move each of these areas forward as a regulator, an executive, a director, and an advisor, but I'm one person and I can only spend time with so many companies. OMM will change that. With 800 lawyers in 18 offices around the world, my friends and clients will have access to the best regulatory, finance, transactional, enforcement, and litigation minds in the world. And the unique bipartisan makeup of the firm means we can navigate all political environments. I will maintain a close relationship with Valor Capital Group and can help fintech and crypto companies with a LatAm focus find funding options. Bottom line: I' here to help everyone who is trying to push financial services forward. #Banks and #payments companies; #mortgage companies and #marketplace lenders; CeFi and DeFi platforms; #stablecoin projects; and Layer 1 and Layer 2 founders. In tomorrow's The Wall Street Journal, Charlie Calomiris and I discuss how dangerous a de-dollarized world is for America, and how the demand for stablecoins in the developing world is countering moves by some governments to drop the dollar. The work of Circle, Coinbase, PayPal, Paxos and others to issue credible dollar-backed stablecoins is as important as the work of startups like Nomad, Juno, Lemon Cash, Caliza and their brethren in bringing stable savings and payment products to countries with runaway inflation. These products can't succeed without a credible US regulatory framework, which is why Chairman Patrick McHenry's stablecoin bill deserves bipartisan support. #banking #financialservices #stablecoins #crypto
