I was telling my sponsor the other day that September is giving the energy of "get somewhere and sit down". I'm prioritizing slow mornings, removing things from my calendar, and enforcing boundaries. I'm noticing burn out appear in different facets of my life, and I don't love it. Shifting things around and prioritizing me and the things important to me is crucial. I live my life out loud (within reason) to inspire others to do the same.

What does that look like right now, for me?

  • Reading more books, especially fiction
  • Turning off shows or movies that don't capture my attention
  • Marking messages as read (eases my anxiety) that I may actually not have read shrugs and getting to them when I actually have the capacity to address them (if at all!)
  • Telling my people what I need from them

One specific piece of feedback my friend told me, that another friend echoed in the same week completely separately: "you have a problem with receiving". So that's what I want to actively work on the rest of the year. And that can very well mean I don't give as much. And until I strike a good balance, that has to be okay.

So if you needed permission to slow down, in September and beyond, your permission slip has been filed!
