I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position working on artist partnerships in the Learning product team at Ableton!

It has been an action packed two years since I returned from maternity leave. The new Communities team is up and running thanks to collaborative efforts from Dennis Fischer, Kathrin Nuxoll, Christa Belle Walley, Ed Flis, Martin Rowe and Natalie Schwarze and our wider regional stakeholders and crew.

Forming a new team isn't easy, especially when navigating such a stacked release schedule across 18 months. During this time, we've successfully supported three product releases: Note (an iOS app for making music), Push 3 (a standalone hardware instrument) and Live 12 (new edition forthcoming this year), as well as meaningful updates to our Community programs. It's on my list to write some thoughts down about organisational change because it was one steep learning curve. If I could sum it in five words or less, it would be: people first, then the rest.

Now, a new year and a new challenge. I am beyond thrilled to take on a new role handling artist partnerships in the Learning product team at Ableton, the talented crew behind the free educational platforms Learning Music (learningmusic.ableton.com) and Learning Synths (learningsynths.ableton.com).

I'm excited to take my almost two decades artist relations experience and channel it directly towards products from a team focused on engaging the curiosity of music makers at every step of their journeys. Thanks to Dennis DeSantis for believing in me, and Jack Schaedler, Maya Shenfeld, Chris Peck & Guy Purssell for the warm welcome into the team.

This week Ableton released an upgrade kit for our Push 3 hardware, which means music makers can now choose to upgrade their tethered versions to standalone with an easy-to-install kit. It achieves a long standing goal to make our hardware last as long as possible by making key components replaceable - all done by the user, no need to send it back to Ableton or a service centre. So much dedicated care went into this: from the actual hardware design & logistics, all the way through to the extremely thoughtful packaging and installation process. All propelled by feedback and continuous collaboration with our equally thoughtful community of music makers. Love this behind-the-scenes style video that explores how music makers informed this update to Push, and a peek at the design process itself.
