Hello Linkedin Folks. I decided I'll be documenting my journey finding my way back into the job market, highs and lows. Not necessarily for visibility but as practice for processing a rollercoaster of emotions, developing resilience (again), getting comfortable with rejection and getting over "the cringe feeling" of just putting anything out on the internet.

One month in, I recently interviewed with a small startup. After what seemed like a promising conversation, I waited eagerly for a follow-up, only to realize they had moved forward without me—without even a word. That stung (even in practice of learning not to take things personally). I then interviewed with a subsidiary of a big FANG company, a role that felt an okay fit, but they chose someone else. It was a easy pill to swallow.

Then, I found a role that felt like it was made for me: Pizza Community Builder (really a marketing + community engagement role). The title was vague, but it was clear the role centered on community and food—my sweet spot. I decided to get creative. Knowing how applications can often get stuck in limbo, I out my old recruiter hat on and found the recruiter’s email. Drawing inspiration from a Jennifer Lawrence video about pizza (see below), I crafted a witty relevant line along side me resume. Five minutes later, I had an interview lined up.

During the interview, I learned that while the role had a specific goal, it also offered autonomy—a for a self-starter like me. I even wrote a six-month plan outlining what the first half of the year could look like. The team was enthusiastic, but ultimately, they went with someone else.

This was the first role I’ve applied to that truly merged my past experience in program management with my passion for food, events, and technology. I am devastated. The kind of devastation that sets your whole digestive system awry. Rejection is harder to sit with when you have been denied something or someone that you believed to be in alignment with you. Even when you know it can be a form of redirection.

So here I am, once again putting it out into the universe that I’m looking for remote roles within program management or adjacent. Experience lies within talent management, events, employee engagement, but I'm ready for something new.

Open to hybrid for the right role. HIGH interest in opportunities in restaurant technology, food and beverage, retail, travel and tourism, education, CPG, but I’m open to other industries as well.

If we’ve ever worked together—whether as colleagues, your direct report, or even if you were one of my candidates—I’d love for you to comment below with your experience working with me. Please tag anyone you think I should talk to! Your support means the world, and it could help open the door to my next opportunity.

Thank you for being part of this journey with me. WE STILL MOVE!

🌟 I'm back on the job market! 🌟

It been a minute since I've tapped into Linkedin. Rather than trying to dive back into the job market after being laid off from Google, I decided to try something new. I took on a job at my favorite place restaurant as a Food and Events Manager at a James Beard Restaurant, Lil Debs Oasis. I've managed large scale 200+ weddings, partnered with Queens Museum for Galas, more recently Influencer dinners in partnership with Women own/led Cannibas companies.

I'm am ready to dive back into this scary job market. My time in this role has been a transformative experience, equipping me with valuable skills and insights that I'm eager to bring to my next opportunity.

Here are some key lessons I've learned along the way:

Adaptability is the Key 🛠️ The art of adaptability has been crucial in my role. Whether facing last-minute changes or unforeseen circumstances, being flexible and resourceful has allowed me to navigate challenges and deliver exceptional experiences.

Attention to Detail 🧐 Event planning demands meticulous organization. From venue selection to budget management, every detail counts.

Strong Communication Skills 🗣️ Effective communication is at the heart of successful event planning. Acting as a bridge between clients, vendors, and attendees, clear and concise communication is vital.

Creativity and Innovation 🎨 Creativity is key to bringing events to life. From conceptualizing unique themes to designing immersive experiences, staying updated with the latest trends and technologies ensures unforgettable events that captivate and engage guests.

Strong Network and Collaboration 🤝 Building and nurturing a robust network is invaluable. Collaborating with reliable event partners, vendors, and industry professionals is essential for success. You are growing a community, not just a company.

Problem-Solving and Decision-Making 🔍 In a fast-paced environment, quick decision-making and effective problem-solving are vital. Identifying problems before they happen and strategizing solutions quickly.

I’m excited to seek new opportunities in Program Management, leveraging my experience in events, employee engagement, and talent management. I am open to roles relevant to my interest in Consumer Packaged Goods, traditional or startup environments, restaurant technology, retail, or travel. Remote first or Hybrid NYC.

If you know of any opportunities or connections that could benefit from my skills and experience, please reach out!
