Taking a brief break from career content and shedding some light to advocate on a very important topic for parents: 🧑🧑🧒Paid Parental Leave.
As a mom now with 2 Under 2 - I feel very fortunate I get Paid Parental Leave, but many parents in the U.S. don’t have access to paid leave support.
And I can’t say this loud enough but parental leave does NOT equal a paid vacation.
Since being on parental leave the last 2 weeks, I’ve never worked harder on less sleep in my life. My patience has been pushed, my body, and my mindset.
There’s times I feel super alone. And other times I’m super grateful. There’s moments I’m so exhausted, But then moments of joy laughing with my toddler.
But this work is not easy.
There’s no cabanas, poolside views, or fancy dinners happening during this parental leave “vacation”😂.
What you see is a mom who is working full time to keep her kiddos alive.
I want to shout out to my company Her Campus Media who supports my paid parental leave for 15 weeks, and companies like Moms First and Bobbie who are advocating for working parents to a whole new level.
If you have a part in creating parental leave policies at your company or within your community, you CAN make a difference. Any small support or changes can go a long way.
To all the working parents out there - don’t stop doing what you do. ❤️

Having a “personal brand” doesn’t mean you have to be the loudest in the room. It also doesn’t mean you have to post 3 times a week, have a logo, or adopt a fake persona.
Your personal brand is how people remember you, what you do, and the impact you make.
I recently collaborated with Resume Genius to share insights on how you can develop your own personal brand. Here's a few takeaways:
-
Remember, stay consistent and authentic to yourself.
-
Your story is powerful, so embrace your story and allow this to be part of your brand. Share behind the scenes, how you got to where you are, and don't only talk about the great things you do, but don't be afraid to share obstacles.
-
Leave impact through small actions such as speaking up about new ideas, areas you can innovate, and even passion projects that go beyond your daily tasks. Small actions leave behind your mark that (overtime) create lasting impression.
-
Personal Brand is not about completing everything on your "to do" list at work to stand out. It is about leaving behind a feeling and impact, so that when you are not in the room working, people and leaders remember what you can potentially do, not just what you are working on.
-
🌟 Don't get caught up in "making your personal brand" - just live it and own it. It will all develop if you embrace it.
