Quick Tip For Business Owners Seeking Capital: Improve Your Credit Utilization Ratio
Sufficient Capital to start or scale your business is just one of several tools in your toolbox you need to be successful.
Unless your business is doing over $50M in annual sales - Lenders factor in your personal credit score. Let's assume you're making your payments on time; The Age of your accounts is also important - the longer you've had them the better - but you can't magically age your accounts. What CAN you impact right now?
For every revolving account you have like a credit card or credit line, keep your "balance to limit ratio" under 45%, and ideally, under 30%.
Example: You have a $10,000 credit card? Don't use any more than $4,500 ($3,000 ideally). [10,000 x .45 = $4,500].
Bottom Line: Improve your chances of qualifying for more money by paying down credit card balances to stay within these guidelines BEFORE seeking funding
Next Step: Before applying for funding, review your credit report
Celebrating 21 years of marriage today. (sorry - no sappy picture). I was listening to a recording of Gary V giving advice to a room full of mortgage brokers: the opportunity to differentiate yourself is in how the client is treated AFTER the sale. I first heard the idea/common sense in a book where IBM told its salespeople "The sale begins after the sale".
Good business, good marriages, great relationships - they remain great when not taken for granted. Ahh... the challenge and fun of extending the excitement we had in trying to win the business far into the future. #marriage #sales #business
