Highlights
TL;DR – I'm restarting a 1,500+ member cybersecurity group I co-founded in 2016 that subsequently fizzled during the pandemic. See links below for more information.
In 2016, I co-founded and co-organized the North Texas Cyber Security Group. It's a niche community that fits nicely between the technical demographic of Dallas Hackers Association and the business demographic of North Texas ISSA.
Leading into the pandemic, we had 1,700+ members. We endured the pandemic throughout 2020, but alas the group ceased operations in 2021.
With the former organizer and account owner unwilling to transfer ownership of the Meetup account to me, there was little I could do to remedy the situation.
Until now…
I'm excited to announce that as of yesterday, I'm now the primary account owner and organizer!
This was made possible only because my new assistant organizer, Chris Botelho, CISSP, rescued the group after it had been, unbeknownst to me, abandoned, and he transferred ownership of it to me without hesitation.
I'm rebooting the MeetUp group events next month at the same time and date: the last Thursday of the month from 7-9PM. Because of the conflicting holidays in November and December, the tentative plan is a hard relaunch in January 2024.
Unlike our usual monthly events, next month's event will NOT have a speaker or topic though. It will just be a social and professional networking event; a reunion!
I have a long to-do list of changes I've been wanting to make for years, but that will all come in due time. Suffice it to say, we will NOT be changing our format, content, or topics. But, we will likely rename and rebrand the group in the near future.

Please share and promote on your social media channels for exposure. I look forward to seeing some old friends and meeting new ones. Hope y'all can make it!
Next month will mark my 4th consecutive year volunteering as a bi-weekly delivery driver for Meals on Wheels Collin County. It has been one of the most fulfilling experiences in my life.
Not only has it made me more grateful for what I have, it has also made me feel more empowered knowing I can make a difference in my local community.
Did you know… 1 in 5 older adults live alone and struggle with isolation? Coupled with the fact that nearly 11k Collin County seniors live in poverty, your support is crucial.
Join me in supporting one of my favorite causes on North Texas Giving Day. And if you have the time, sign up to become a volunteer!
