That moment when you realize the new dog toy the dog has been playing with under your desk for several days is actually a real dead rabbit carcass. I looked at it today thought “why is there a leaf on the toy…. Oh no - there’s a paw”. So. Gross.
Yesdterday marked another year of sobriety under my belt: 13 years of 1 day at a time. This has been a tough year in a lot of ways, but I am so grateful to have a framework for coping, finding peace, and living in hope by working the steps, relying on others in the program, and striving for aggressive honesty and gratitude. I post this every year, not for any self-aggrandizement (I save that for other posts) but to signal to anyone in my network who may be struggling or are just “recovery-curious.” Along with thousands of others living in recovery, I am here to help you find your way.
