It’s been a little over a week since Ballard FC won the USL2 National Final and I’m still finding it hard to find the words to express how grateful I feel.
So for now I’ll just say two things:
- Thank you to our incredible team and staff. All the credit in the world goes to our coaches and players for coming up big in every big moment on the way to this national championship - capped by a 93rd minute winner in the championship game. Does it get any better?
I’m also extremely proud of our team behind the scenes, who rose to every occasion this season time and time again to meet and exceed the mark operationally. It was the high point of my career to raise the trophy with them after the Final (appropriately at the end of packing up our Uhaul just before midnight 😂).
- I would also like to thank Sam Zisette, Chris Kaimmer, and Lamar Neagle for taking a chance on me a year and a half ago when they hired me to run the club’s operations. I’d never worked in sports before, but came with a drive and a passion that you all, in turn, recognized and rewarded. Thank you putting your faith in me and giving our team the necessary resources to realize this championship so soon. I am forever grateful for the opportunity to build a national club in our own backyard.
I’m happy to share that I've started a new position as Chief of Staff at Reuben's Brews! I'm super thankful to Adam, Grace, and the whole Reuben's team for bringing me onboard in this new role - I can't believe it's already been a month. And of course I'm so happy to still be working with Ballard FC as we tackle our first offseason. Hard to put into words the gratitude I feel for Sam and everyone at the Club for giving me the flexibility to find a way to work for truly two of the best organizations in all of Seattle simultaneously.
Also, sometimes it can feel like LinkedIn updates trend towards being superficial and trite. I've certainly let that affect me in the past. I'll keep it brief, but my 'real talk' is to bet on yourself, work hard at what you want, and have faith that things will work out. There's no way I could have predicted the changes my professional career would take a year ago, but I couldn't be happier with them now and I'm wishing that for everyone here.
I'd like to give a major thank you to all those who I have worked with who have helped me get to this point, past and present. If I see you at Reuben's, the first one's on me!
