Highlights
Thinking about the future of our healthcare system, it's clear that a wake-up call is needed to prevent a tragedy like what is brewing in Asheville. Sadly, that brewing storm has all the makings of an avoidable disaster. Our ED providers and their patients shouldn't be casualties of hospital greed. Either do the job right or close the doors. A fiasco of this magnitude would only further jeopardize lives. Physicians are already feeling the financial strain with payment denials on the rise, Medicare payments decreasing and the the potential for difficulties of a new coding system dragging revenues down further. Let's hope that Asheville doesn't become another example of all that's wrong with the system. I would be willing to bet this won't be an isolated case. Just some late night musings from a passionate ED provider advocate!#healthcare #emergencydepartment #physicians #medicare #hospitalgreed
Seems the ED is in the bullseye again. Please work with your ACEP chapters and billing/coding vendors to get our side of the story out to the public.
