Carl Bruch is an international environmental lawyer with over 20 years of experience, specializing in environmental governance and peacebuilding.

He has assisted numerous countries in enhancing their environmental laws, institutions, and practices across various regions worldwide.

Carl's expertise lies in promoting compliance and enforcement, public participation, and constitutional environmental law through his extensive research and technical assistance.

His work encompasses diverse disciplines and sectors like environment, development, security, humanitarianism, and trade, integrating legal, management, and social strategies for effective solutions.

As a pioneer in environmental peacebuilding since 2007, he founded the Environmental Peacebuilding Association and played a key role in initiatives like the Environmental Peacebuilding Knowledge Platform.

Carl's governance innovations cover areas such as climate change adaptation, environmental emergency response, and equitable genetic resource access.

His governance experience extends to water, forests, oceans, extractives, land, biodiversity, and fisheries.

In addition to his legal background, Carl exhibits skills in programmatic vision, fundraising, inspiring others, problem-solving, and effective cross-cultural communication and collaboration.

His educational background includes a Doctor of Law (JD) from Lewis & Clark Law School, MA in Physics from The University of Texas at Austin, and BS in Physics, Mathematics, Anthropology from Michigan State University.

Throughout his career, he has held key positions at the Environmental Law Institute, American University School of International Service, United Nations Environment Programme, and other renowned organizations.
