Highlights

Dec 21 · linkedin

"Everyone can continue to shop normally" was a quote from the press conference earlier, the right message to put across, but this time of year is never people shopping normally. This week must be one of the strangest for UK supply chains (with a nod to the Beast from the East & lockdown 1)

Already planning for massive increases in grocery demand, a week when many change from their normal brands, likely change in the size of products in demand to previous years and the highest ever level of home deliveries. Now there are also the concerns on imported products and 1st Jan.

We are nervous creatures and will this fear change habits even more? With tier 4 areas cancelling plans, we have more individual households needing to get their xmas dinner. Any poor product availability (natural or from panic buying), or missed items on the home deliveries, gives a large potential for increased top up shopping in the last couple of days which may spill over to greater footfall for smaller retailers.

Essentially this will be a massively tough week to get right, but I look forward to the next opportunity to be solving these riddles again! Good luck to everyone in the supply chain!! #openforwork #supplychainplanning #goodluck
