Carlo Cottarelli is a prominent figure in the field of economics, with a rich and diverse background in various prestigious organizations.

He earned his Master's degree in Economics from The London School of Economics and Political Science after completing his studies in Scienze Economiche e Bancarie at the Università degli Studi di Siena.

His professional journey started at Banca d'Italia and ENI, followed by an impactful tenure at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), where he served as the Director of the Fiscal Affairs Department for five years.

From 2013 to 2014, he took on the role of Commissario per la Revisione della Spesa Pubblica in the Letta and Renzi governments in Italy.

Carlo Cottarelli's international experience continued as he became the Executive Director at the IMF for Italy, Albania, Greece, Malta, Portugal, and San Marino from November 2014 to October 2017.

Currently, he holds the position of Director at the Osservatorio sui Conti Pubblici Italiani at the Università Cattolica di Milano and also imparts knowledge as a Fiscal Macroeconomics course instructor at Università Bocconi.
