I love this Nokia x Mattel, Inc. cell phone 💃 even if it is a bit late as the movie came out July of last year. The device comes with a camera, phone, and text messaging capabilities but no internet-connected features. No social media. No apps. It's a roaming digital detox that still keeps you connected to your friends and family and I love it. Also, the cute design customizations are 🔥 from the mirror, wrist strap, pink power cord and the covers.
That said, what I'd really love is a device that allows me to shut down its internet capabilities when I want to focus on something, vs. needing to go full Airplane mode or in this case, sans internet forever. It would be incredible if I could say keep the phone on just in case of emergencies, for instance. Or, let's say a parental control was that the phone only connected to the internet for certain hours of the day.
In 2013, I did a TEDx talk https://lnkd.in/exy4Dvud about the effect of digital overload on your brain and many many smart people before and after have also spoken about this noting how detoxing can reboot your creativity and focus. What you don't want is to turn into an overreactive fly unable to think through larger concepts. If you instantly think to yourself, oh she sees me, then you might need a bit of a detox yourself. 😘
Back to the phone, it comes out in the UK today at $130 USD and the US will come soon. I forecast that several people will buy it purely for the novelty without connecting it, but regardless, I think it will sell well and is an interesting brand move for Nokia in a sea of cell sameness. Well done.

I use Spotify's AI DJ every single day for commuting to the office and for energetic inspo on my 🚲 rides. I also have been learning Spanish every day for the last 1.5 years as someone who would love to move to Mexico City after living in Mexico prior for a year in Puerto Vallarta. 🇲🇽
And so, seeing Spotify deploying the Spanish version of the AI DJ was so welcome as hearing Spanish every day is critical to the learning process. Being down in CDMX for 2 weeks in February really improved my horrible Spanish-speaking skills. 😇 That said, I went to change the app language to Spanish and went back to the app but my AI DJ was still in English so can anyone tell me how I can now get the Spanish version? In looking at the press release (https://lnkd.in/eDtC3VGJ), I think it's because I'm not located in a Latin American country but if that is the reason, do think that should be updated as there are more than a few Spanish speakers in this country as well. 😊
