I was saddened to see late this morning news that Steve Silberman passed away. I've met him several times, and I remember when I started working at SAP reading his book Neurotribes during my long BART ride out to South San Francisco. I think it's still one of the few "long" books I always recommend reading. During the early days, of Autistic Women's Alliance, he used to repost/RT some of our events, which I'll always be grateful. #Neurotribes #Neurodiversity #AutisticWomensAlliance #ActuallyAutistic
Here's another great topic - Restraint Collapse, or specifically "Post-Work Restraint Collapse". One of my autistic colleagues at work mentioned this as a problem with late identified/diagnosed autistic women, but I kind of think this is a problem that even NTs have, since geopolitics have been more polarized, and recent election cycle(s). This is a term that was originally coined by counselor and parent Andrea Loewen Nair that had to do with kids coming home from school or daycare and have "tantrums" or "meltdowns". I assume this happens with NT kids, but is more common with ND kids.
Did you know that this happens with adults? It's called "Post-Work Restraint Collapse" or PWRC for short. Here's a Here's a HuffPost Article about "Post-Work Restraint Collapse": https://lnkd.in/gFdVi326
Do ND suffer from this more than NT folks? Umm..since the pandemic, I think NTs are having this issue too. What do you think? #ActuallyAutistic #AutisticWomensAlliance
