Cary Lou's extensive career at The Urban Institute showcases their dedication to evidence-based research and policymaking. Starting as an Information Specialist at the Harvard School of Public Health, they eventually rose to the role of Senior Information Specialist and Project Coordinator, where they managed a variety of projects aimed at enhancing health policies and education. This experience not only solidified their analytical skills but also underscored the importance of comprehensive research in shaping effective public policies. Lou’s expertise continued to expand as they took on increasingly responsible roles at The Urban Institute, both as a Research Associate and ultimately as a Research Associate II. Their work has involved in-depth analysis of educational data and contributing insights to improve educational outcomes across the nation.
In addition to their time at The Urban Institute, Cary served as a Senior Policy Analyst at the Center on Education and the Workforce at Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy.
